Waste Paper - Promissing Feedstock for Bioethanol Production
نویسنده
چکیده
Modern approach to utilization of non-edible biomass is its conversion to glucose, and the following fermentation of the sugar into final bioproducts. Among various biomass types, the waste of office paper is distinguished by increased content of cellulose and negligible content of lignin; therefore it can be a suitable feedstock for bioconversion into valuable bioproduct, e.g. ethanol. An advanced technology has been proposed for complete utilization of the paper waste by bioconversion and production of bioethanol.

The Bioethanol Industry in Sub-Saharan Africa: History, Challenges, and Prospects
Recently, interest in using bioethanol as an alternative to petroleum fuel has been escalating due to decrease in the availability of crude oil. The application of bioethanol in the motor-fuel industry can contribute to reduction in the use of fossil fuels and in turn to decreased carbon emissions and stress of the rapid decline in crude oil availability. Bioethanol production methods are numer...
متن کاملFlexibility in wheat bioethanol plants
Bioethanol is mostly produced from wheat starch in Sweden. Due to the increasing wheat price it is no longer profitable to produce bioethanol from wheat. In this paper the conditions for converting a wheat bioethanol plant to a lignocellulosic bioethanol plant are studied. The most suitable lignocellulosic feedstock is investigated and soft wood chips are chosen based on bioethanol ...
متن کاملEconomic Assessment of Biorefinery Processes: The Case of Bioethanol
Ethanol is mainly produced from sugar cane (Brazil) and corn or other cereals (US), but these sources induced criticisms as for social sustainability, being directly competitive with the food and feed chain. Therefore, a second generation concept was introduced for biofuels, by developing processes for their production from waste biomass or energy crops not competitive with agriculture. However...
متن کاملBioethanol potentials of corn cob hydrolysed using cellulases of Aspergillus niger and Penicillium decumbens
Corn cob is a major component of agricultural and domestic waste in many parts of the world. It is composed mainly of cellulose which can be converted to energy in form of bioethanol as an efficient and effective means of waste management. Production of cellulolytic enzymes were induced in the fungi Aspergillus niger and Penicillium decumbens by growing them in mineral salt medium containing al...

The continuous growth in global population and the ongoing development of countries such as China and India have contributed to a rapid increase in worldwide energy demand. Fossil fuels such as oil and gas are finite resources, and their current rate of consumption cannot be sustained. This, coupled with fossil fuels' role as pollutants and their contribution to global warming, has led to incre...
